Lottie was staring at the razor blade in her hand. There were already so many cuts on her arm that one more wouldn’t be that much of a difference. But this one was going to be the last. Her mother would never understand why she was going to do this, she never understood anything Lottie did. Lottie went to Holy Angels Catholic High School and she used to believe in God until she became depressed. She started having these raging mood swings where she would be happy one moment and depressed the next. She got angry at God for leaving her. Lottie started distancing herself from her friends and she started to say it was them who didn’t want to be her friend. She didn’t turn to drugs or alcohol because she had promised herself before she started high school that she would never do that to herself because she saw what it had done to her sister, who was now married to a abusive husband with three children and she’s a alcoholic or that was the last she had heard. Lottie hadn’t seen or heard from her sister in 7 years. But none of that matter now, all Lottie wanted was to escape this pain forever. She took a deep breath and pulled the blade across her wrist. Then as she was sitting on the bathroom floor, Lottie heard the door open.

“Mom, Lottie?”

“Grandma, Auntie Lottie?”

It was her sister and her two nephews and niece. She tried to call out to Rachel but she couldn’t speak her eyes lids felt so heavy. She just needed to lie down. The moment she laid her head on the tiled floor she slided into unconciousness…

Narrative Blogging

For our Project Dustin H, Sarah P, Jessica P and myself are doing a type of narrative blog. We each are writing a short story that doesnt have an ending so that our comments are our ideas of how each others story should end. Then I was think of some of the effcts of a distributed network would have on our project. One of us writes an amazing story and a unknown blogger reads it. She tells her friends who go look at it and her friends tell there friends and so on. Or if one of us writes the worst story ever and a unkown blogger reads it it could ruin our chance of a successful blog.

Do you remember the Sex mattress from last spring? Do you remember the red and gold t-shirts? Did you go to The Price of Life? Last spring Intervarsity Christian Fellowship did a campaign to raise awareness about Human Sex Trafficking.

This Spring is the Do You See Orange campaign to raise awareness about the AIDS pandemic in Africa. You are going to see hundreds of people wearing bright orange t-shirts that say Orphan on them. Here is a link to a youtube vid from the first campaign in Seattle, Washington. Please watch
